Drinking In The Dark
Made in 6 days for the Pirate Software Game Jam 15 (July 2024)
Themes: Shadows and Alchemy
Face off against a mysterious opponent in a dangerous game that involves making and drinking a potion with an unknown effect.
Themes interpretation
Shadows - Outside of the dark atmosphere, I also interpreted this theme as darkness that obstructs your view. Much crucial information is hidden from you. You can never be sure which effect the potion has at the moment and what ingredients does your opponent have left.
Alchemy - The gameplay revolves around preparing a potion by adding different ingredients that affect what the potion does when you drink it.
How to play
You and The Opponent take turns with the potion. When it is your turn, you can either:
- add an ingredient to the potion (all the ingredient effects are explained in the game - check the page on the left side);
- or drink the potion (you can't drink it on the first turn though);
After you add an ingredient, The Opponent gets the potion and he can also choose one of his ingredients to add, but you won't know which one. You can see The Opponent's ingredients at the beggining of a round. He can also decide to drink the potion.
When the potion gets drank, the round ends and the potion gets refilled again without any effect. This continues until one of the contestants loses all health from drinking too many harm potions.

Nice RPS game. Enjoyed it. Would like to see some type of npc abilities used as well, but it didn't come up as I played. Liked the music a lot, it fit well with the theme
Well done, felt a bit too easy after a minute or two. Would love to see more!
Very interesting game. I like the inspiration from BuckshotRoulette and the overall mechanics. I feel this game is one or two iterations from being amazing. One or two more ingredients could really mix up the formula and make it harder to make them drink a damage potion.
Very good job! I hope you keep at it!
